How to Connect ProTee VX to GSPro: A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Connect ProTee VX to GSPro — Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Connecting the ProTee VX to GSPro is one of the most common questions we get — and the good news is it's straightforward. The ProTee VX connects to GSPro natively using an official connector, with no subscription fees and no additional connector purchase. Once you've done it once, GSPro remembers your settings and launches automatically on future sessions.

This guide walks through every step from fresh install to hitting your first shot in GSPro. If you're already set up and just troubleshooting a connection issue, skip ahead to the troubleshooting section.

✅ Before You Start — What You Need

  • ProTee VX — mounted, powered on, and connected to your PC via Ethernet cable (Cat5/Cat6). The VX does not support wireless connection.
  • ProTee Labs — installed and activated with your activation code. Download the latest version from proteevx.com/setup.
  • GSPro enabled on your ProTee Labs license — you must email support@protee-united.com with your ProTee Labs activation code and ask them to enable GSPro. This is required — without it, ProTee Labs will throw an error when you try to connect.
  • GSPro — installed with a valid license key (~$250/year).
  • Calibration complete — your ProTee VX should already be calibrated using the calibration board. If you haven't done this yet, follow the ProTee VX setup guide first.
  • PC — meeting GSPro's system requirements. For smooth 1080p gameplay: dedicated GPU (RTX 3060 or better), 16GB RAM. For 4K: RTX 3080 or better, 32GB RAM recommended.

Step-by-Step Connection Guide

1

Enable GSPro on Your ProTee Labs Account

GSPro integration isn't enabled automatically on your ProTee Labs license — you need to ask ProTee to turn it on. This is a one-time step and their support team is fast.

  1. Open ProTee Labs and locate your activation code (found in Settings or on the activation email you received from your reseller).
  2. Email support@protee-united.com with your activation code and ask them to enable GSPro.
  3. Wait for their confirmation email. ProTee's support team typically responds within hours — often faster.

If you skip this step, ProTee Labs will throw an error when you try to connect to GSPro. Don't skip it.

2

Install and Set Up GSPro

If you're installing GSPro for the first time (not converting from another launch monitor), the process is simple:

  1. Download and install GSPro from the official website.
  2. Launch GSPro. You'll see the connector selection screen — a black window with small blue boxes representing different launch monitors.
  3. Select ProTee United VX from the connector list.
  4. GSPro will load. Enter your GSPro license key when prompted.
  5. Reboot GSPro to complete the initial setup.
💡 Already using GSPro with a different launch monitor? If you're converting from another device (e.g., SkyTrak, GC3, etc.), go to the GSPro License Conversion Tool and select ProTee United VX. Then in GSPro: Settings → Game → System → "Reset GSPro Connect" → choose ProTee United VX. Click "Clear Settings" in the connector and restart.
3

Launch ProTee Labs and Connect the VX

Make sure your ProTee VX is powered on and connected to your PC via Ethernet cable before opening ProTee Labs.

  1. Open ProTee Labs on your PC.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select "ProTee VX" from the device list and click CONNECT.
  4. Wait for the status in the top-right corner to show "CONNECTED".

If the VX is calibrated and a ball is in the hitting area, the status will change to "Ready for shot".

4

Connect ProTee Labs to GSPro

With GSPro running and ProTee Labs connected to the VX:

  1. In ProTee Labs, go to Settings.
  2. Under the game connection options, select GSPro.
  3. Click CONNECT. You should see confirmation that ProTee Labs is connected to GSPro.

That's it. Your next shot will register in GSPro. Select your course, choose your game mode, and start playing.

💡 Launch order matters: Always launch GSPro first, then ProTee Labs. GSPro needs to be running and listening for the connector before ProTee Labs tries to send data. If you reverse the order, the connection may fail.

Optimizing Performance

Once you're connected, a few settings adjustments will smooth out your experience — especially if you're running ProTee Labs on one screen and GSPro on your projector.

Dual Screen Setup (Monitor + Projector)

The most popular setup is ProTee Labs on a desk monitor and GSPro projected onto the impact screen. For this to run smoothly, make sure your monitor and projector are set to the same resolution and refresh rate (Hz). Mismatched settings cause stuttering and lag.

V-Sync and FPS

Press F on your keyboard in GSPro to toggle V-Sync. Enabling V-Sync limits the frame rate and reduces screen tearing. This has a big impact on performance when running dual screens. You can also adjust GSPro's graphics settings (resolution, shadow quality, draw distance) to balance image quality with performance.

Club Selection

When GSPro is connected to ProTee Labs, ProTee Labs' AI club auto-detect is disabled — the club selected in GSPro takes over. This means you need to manually select the correct club in GSPro before each shot. Make sure the club in GSPro matches what you're actually swinging. When you disconnect GSPro, ProTee Labs switches back to its AI club detection system automatically.

⚠️ Don't forget to disconnect properly. When you're done playing GSPro, disconnect the game in ProTee Labs before closing it. If you just close GSPro without disconnecting, ProTee Labs may not switch back to AI club detection, and your next standalone practice session could have club selection issues.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Problem Likely Cause Fix
"Connection Failed to GSPro" GSPro not enabled on your ProTee Labs license, or connector settings stale First, confirm you've emailed support@protee-united.com with your activation code and received confirmation that GSPro is enabled. If already enabled: in GSPro go to Settings → Game → System → "Reset GSPro Connect" → choose ProTee United VX. Click "Clear Settings" in the connector and restart. If converting from another device, use the GSPro License Conversion Tool first.
ProTee VX won't connect in Labs Firewall or antivirus blocking connection, or Ethernet cable issue Temporarily disable Windows Firewall and antivirus. Check that the Ethernet cable is securely connected at both ends. Try a different Ethernet cable. Make sure the VX is powered on (LED indicators visible).
GSPro is laggy or stuttering Mismatched display settings or GPU overload Set monitor and projector to the same resolution and refresh rate. Enable V-Sync in GSPro (press F). Lower graphics settings (shadows, draw distance). Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date.
Shots firing twice in GSPro Known bug in older ProTee Labs versions Update ProTee Labs to the latest version. This was fixed in a recent patch where ball and club data are now sent separately to GSPro.
Wrong club showing in ProTee Labs GSPro is overriding club auto-detect When connected to GSPro, club selection is controlled by GSPro — not ProTee Labs. Select the correct club in GSPro before each shot. When you disconnect, Labs returns to AI detection.
ProTee Labs stops at "Loading Physics" Missing .NET framework or Visual C++ runtime Install the latest Windows updates. Manually install .NET Framework 4.8.1 and Visual C++ Redistributables.
Shot delay in GSPro Network or processing bottleneck In ProTee Labs GSPro settings, try enabling "Experimental GSPro shot delay fix". You can also try the option to not send club data to GSPro, which reduces processing per shot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does connecting ProTee VX to GSPro require a subscription?

No. The ProTee VX connects to GSPro natively with no additional subscription fees and no connector purchase. You just need a valid GSPro license (~$250/year). This is a significant advantage over Uneekor systems, which require a minimum $199/year subscription on top of the GSPro license just to unlock third-party software access.

Can I connect wirelessly?

No. The ProTee VX connects to your PC via Ethernet cable (Cat5 or Cat6). A USB-to-Ethernet adapter works if your PC doesn't have an Ethernet port. Wireless is not supported for the VX or most overhead launch monitors.

Can I run ProTee Labs and GSPro at the same time?

Yes — that's the recommended setup. Most users run ProTee Labs on a desk monitor for data review and swing video, while GSPro runs on the projector hitting the impact screen. You need a PC with at least two video outputs (most modern graphics cards have this).

Do I launch GSPro or ProTee Labs first?

Always launch GSPro first. GSPro needs to be running and listening for the connector before ProTee Labs attempts to send data. If you reverse the order, the connection may fail.

Can I use other simulation software besides GSPro?

Yes. The ProTee VX also works with E6 Connect (requires a $300 connector), Creative Golf 3D, TGC 2019, and ProTee's own GolfCore platform (coming free Spring 2026). ProTee Labs is also a full practice environment on its own — driving range, bag mapping, shot dispersion, and video replay without needing any third-party software.

I'm still stuck. Can you help?

Absolutely. ProTee United's support team is available 24/7 and is known for fast, helpful responses — reach them at csc.protee-united.com. You can also contact us at Golf Sim Depot via chat, email, or phone and we'll help you get connected.
